What is consolidation and how does it work?

Consolidation means that multiple shippents to the same recipient merges into a single shipment. This reduces transportation costs, increases efficiency and contrubites to a possible environmental improvement.

How does it work?

If you have three separate orders to the same delivery address you can choose to consolidate them instead of booking three individual shipments. This means that all packages are sent together as one shipment

Methods for consolidation

Direct booking via printout

Some carriers close the booking when the first labels are printed. This means that you cannot add more packages to the shipment adrer it has been created. The alternative is to wait to print the labels until all packages are ready. The disadvantage is that you have to handle unlabeled packages and apply the labels manually.

Flowprint – Booking afterwards

Some carriers allow post-booking, which means you can add more packages to an existing shipment. Flowprint can be automated via an integration file, where the system automativally identifies if an open shipment can be consolidated. If a matching shipment is found, the new labels are automatically printed.

How do I activate consolidation?

You can't activate consolidation or flowprint by yourself, as it requires setting up a custom rule set. To activare consolidation and/or flowprint, contact us at support@schipt.com and we will help you set up the correct settings.
